My Five Favourite Books on Cryptocurrencies

We are currently living in a highly advanced era that evolves faster than we can keep pace. In this era, a fairly recent addition has been the concept of cryptocurrency. Even though it has been around for quite some time, cryptocurrencies and blockchains are still considered fairly young and new as they are yet to see the sort of mass adoption that enthusiasts hope for. Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency to hit the news and media, which helped catalyse the trend of investing in cryptocurrencies and making it a household term. Since then, many others have hit the market, making the entire asset as a whole easily accessible. But despite the increasing interest around the concepts, many remain fairly clueless about their origins, their purpose, and therefore, their potential.

With the right research and resources, it’s possible to begin a successful cryptocurrency journey that improves your chances of success both in investing in cryptocurrencies and in understanding blockchains. Perhaps you could even consider a career in blockchain. Who knows? The world desperately requires mass blockchain education anyway.

As Helen Hayes once said,

“The expert at anything was once a beginner.”

You don’t need to hesitate to turn to crypto-assets thinking you’re just a beginner and carry the assumption that you won’t survive it. Instead, you can read the books that have been mentioned below and assess yourself.

Cryptoassets: The Innovative Investor’s Guide to Bitcoin and Beyond — Chris Burniske and Jack Tatar.

A great book for those confused about cryptocurrencies and how they work, this is a vast treasure chest with a step-by-step detailed analysis of the crypto world. It begins right from the very basics of the concept of a cryptocurrency. It establishes its base with accurate units of information and then in the latter half, it slowly delves into the complexities involved in this trade and provides an overview to make it easy for the person to understand and take decisions. Worth a read for sure.

Be Left Behind: Discover Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Before Your Grandma Beats You to It — Yuri Cataldo and Steve Good.

Have you ever read a book or an article that instills confidence in you about something you were unsure about? This is the one. The writers Yuri and Steve, both established entrepreneurs, have done their best to explain the blockchain system to readers. They’ve authored it by keeping the customer’s perspective as a key factor. This makes it easier for readers to relate and understand the complex operations and formalities involved in cryptocurrencies in a better way. The book also tells us how to analyze and figure out the best places to invest in order to get the best results. After reading this book, you’d definitely want to try and invest.

Cryptocurrency: The Ultimate Guide to Understanding the XRP Ripple — Jared Snyder

The author Jared started trading in stock markets when he was a kid. He did it all through high school and wanted to work as a stockbroker in Wall Street. His dream did come true after graduating from Cornell University, and he also tried his hand in investing in digital currencies. Jared wrote this book trying to explain all the pros and cons of investing. He’s shared professional advice and makes us understand the importance of finding a good place to invest among the 800+ different places providing cryptocurrencies.

The Bitcoin Big Bang: How Alternative Currencies are About to Change the World -Brian Kelly

This book is a great guide to reach the widely undiscovered territory of digital currency; it goes beyond Bitcoin to try and explain how this transformative technology is about to change the world. In this book, you’ll explore the origins of cryptocurrencies, learn the history and evolution of payment systems, discover how the bitcoin network is facilitating free and instant transfer of value, understand the mining of bitcoin, and how to invest in them.

Bitcoin Billionaires: A True Story of Genius, Betrayal, and Redemption — Ben Mezrich

This is a different one from the rest of the books in this post. If you’ve watched the movie The Social Network or know about the early life of Mark Zuckerberg before the inception of Facebook, you might know about the Winklevoss brothers. You might also know that Mark Zuckerberg got the idea of Facebook from them. The book tells the story of Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss in their journey after the Facebook legal controversy. They heard about cryptocurrencies from an eccentric guy and they took the chance and invested in cryptocurrency as it was the last option left for them to achieve something. This story is about the Winklevoss brothers, who after their arguable failures in the Facebook saga, then turned into the first crypto billionaires. This is a story that should inspire you to take risks and will leave you wanting to invest in digital currency.

The books mentioned here in this article are comprehensible to beginners, and could also benefit veteran investors as well. Of course, this list is by no means exhaustive. But it’s a good place to start, I hope.
